When you think of beauty tools, I'm sure that your immersion blender probably isn't on the top of your list, but it should be. This invaluable tool helps me in so many..... wait, What?
But I don't have an immersion blender? What is an immersion blender? I thought this was about boat motors? Well, it is. And you just have to have one of these!
Let's start at the beginning. "An immersion blender, or stick blender is a kitchen appliance to blend ingredients or purees food in the container in which they are being prepared. They are sometimes called wand blenders, hand blenders, or boat motors"1. We call ours a boat motor.
We use this a lot. It is perfect for making smoothies, pureeing vegetables, creating the smoothest soups, sneaking veggies into my little ones mac-n-cheese (shhhh), making hummus, and even whipping up a quick egg white facial.
I have owned a few different brands, my favorite by far is the KitchenAid 2-Speed. It came with a great container and lid. You can remove the shaft (stop it, that's what its called) for easy cleaning. This thing makes quick work of all my blending and pureeing needs. It is tough, attractive and just awesome.
I just finished making my Kale and Pineapple Breakfast Smoothie. Click on the smoothie name for the recipe. It is so good. By using the boat motor, I still keep all of the fiber from the kale, but get it to a nice smooth consistency. I also ate 10 almonds, to give myself a nicely rounded breakfast. Fiber, calcium, iron, vitamin c, protein. Now that is a beautiful thing.
You will see me reference the boat motor a lot on this site. I seriously use it every day. I highly suggest that you add one of these to your beauty tools. Coming soon are a lot of recipes for smoothies, soups, and skin care treatments. You can absolutely make these things with a blender, but I personally feel that you won't get the same smoothness.
Another fun thing that I do with the boat motor, chop nuts. I like to add them to the top of a salad for some texture, and you can throw a bit into a veggie puree too. Pesto? Quick and easy. Salsa? In seconds.
Want a quick facial to tighten your skin before a big date? Whip up an egg white until its really foamy, and spread it on your skin. Now go about your business, picking out that fabulous outfit that you're going to wear. When the egg is dry, simply rinse with warm water. The proteins in the egg tighten your skin and give you a youthful glow.
Dry skin? Do the same as above, but use an egg yolk, a touch of honey and a tablespoon of oatmeal. Super soft skin, hello there.
I really can't live without my boat motor. I may buy another, just for a back up.
Have a beautiful day!
